The luxurious Japanese-style hotel “Shoho” in Utsukushigahara Onsen area began an extensive renovation in 2017 that continued until May of this year. The first half of the renovation focused on redesigned dining rooms and guest rooms including the introduction of the new special Japanese/Western-style room with open-air bath.

The second half of renovation continued on the redesigning the rest of guest rooms but the biggest change is the newly built fine view bath “Utsukushi no Yu”, literally meaning the “Beauty Bath”. Not only the high-quality hotspring water it has to offer, this new onsen bath also offers the exceptional panoramic view of the Northern Japanese Alps and the city of Matsumoto all at once.

Hotel Shoho is only 20 minutes from JR Matsumoto station by bus or car. But the hotel provides a free shuttle bus service twice a day, from JR Matsumoto station at 16:00 and 17:00, and from Hotel Shoho at 9:00 and 10:00.
